Our History
K.E. Carmel Group of Schools, West Bengal belongs to the Christian Catholic Religious Congregation of Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (C.M.I) Fathers. It is solely owned and managed by C.M.I Dharmanivas Educational Trust (DET) and C.M.I. Dharmaniketan Educational Trust (Eastern Region) under the aegis of Dharmaniketan C.M.I Sub Region, West Bengal of C.M.I St. Joseph’s Province, Trivandrum, Kerala, India. It draws inspiration from Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara (1805-71), a Saint and Social Reformer of the 19th Century in the state of Kerala, India. He is one of the founders of the C.M.I congregation, which is the first Catholic Religious Congregation for men in India. Following his vision, C.M.I Congregation has established more than 700 educational institutions all over India and abroad. The most reputed universities, colleges, schools and other educational institutions of C.M.I Congregation in India always stand first in excellence. The vision of education provided by C.M.I congregation focuses exclusively on the integral development of rural areas of India by providing quality education. K. E. Carmel Group of Schools in the state of West Bengal flourishes with eight educational institutions with this noble vision. The group is approved as a Minority Educational Institution as F.No.1525 of 2006-143/8. It imparts instructions to students from NURSERY TO CLASS XII under CISCE curriculum, New Delhi, India.
Being aware that educational process is the most important human resource development, we open our institutions to all, irrespective of sex, caste, colour or faith. But we prefer Catholics as members of our Minority Community and give them religious formation based on Gospel values while others are provided with moral and spiritual formation. For the integral development of our students we organize various curricular and co-curricular activities.
The CMI Missionary Fathers from Kerala (St. Joseph’s Province, Trivandrum) invest their best for the excellent formation of the next generation, as our contribution to the national development. Through our educational institutions we respond to the National need to prepare our youth to be socially responsible so that India becomes a super power by the year 2030. Hence, we select and train committed teachers, who are with our students in their physical, intellectual, moral, cultural, aesthetic, emotional, spiritual and skill developments. We have been nurturing them with our rich experience in education for the past 189 years upholding the age old spiritual traditions of India and of the St.Thomas Christians of Apostolic origin.

We aspire towards creating a just and humane society where dignity of a person is respected, unjust social structures are challenged, our cultural heritage of ahimsa,secularism,religious harmony and national integration are upheld and where the poor and marginalized are specially attended to.
