Admission
Admission to K.E Carmel School is restricted by conditions of age, mental aptitude, ability, and conduct of the candidate. Applicants to higher classes are admitted to the standard they are found fit and according to the vacancies available.
Every candidate for admission must be introduced by the parent/guardian who will be responsible for his/her conduct, studies, discipline and fees.
Withdrawal
Transfer and Conduct certificates are issued only when the parent /guardian applies for it in the prescribed form after clearing all the dues in the office. CD will be reimbursed on the production of its receipt. Fees will remain due, until a request of withdrawal of the student from the school is given in writing to the Principal.
Dismissal
Irregular attendance, habitual idleness, disobedience, indiscipline, defiance of authority, lack of sufficient efforts to improve in studies, immoral behaviour, threat to other students, use of drugs & alcohol, exchange or use of mobile and other electronic gadgets on the campus, political activities on school campus and parental misbehaviour with any other student, parent, staff or school authorities are sufficient reasons for the dismissal of a student. If the parent is non co-operative with the school, his/her child may be dismissed with immediate effect.7.2. Pupils are expected to conduct themselves befittingly in and outside the school. Hence misbehavior in public places, streets and conveyances are sufficient reasons for the dismissal from school.
Dismissal
Students, who remain absent from class for 15 days, or 3 days adjacent to vacations, will have their names removed from the role. The Principal reserves the right to readmit them after the payment of fresh admission fee.
Failing twice consecutively in the same class is sufficient reason to send a student away from the school.
Leave of Absence
The reason for the absence must be explained on the Leave Record page of the School Hand Book with parent’s signature.
If absence on account of illness lasts for more than three days, the application for leave must be made to the Principal with supporting documents. Defaulters shall be excluded from class.
No leave of absence is granted for terminal or monthly tests.
No student will be sent home, even in urgent cases, unless a duly authorized person comes to take the student.
Leave of absence, for any reason other than illness, requires a previous written application to the Principal. If the student takes more then 5 leaves a year, the parent may be asked to report in person in each case. In case of absence, parents have to see that the student makes up the portions done in the class. Parents are requested not to take students to tours and ceremonies on working days, especially before or after holidays. Family tours may be planned referring to the school Diary for holidays. Attendance is compulsory on the last working day before the commencement of long holidays, on the first working day after the long holidays and the days before examinations.
Examination & Promotion
- We conduct class tests, two mid-term and three terminal examinations. Students must attend these examinations except when prevented by ill health, in which case a Medical Certificate must be submitted.
- Re-examination will not be conducted in any subject. Absence or misconduct during examination or failure in any subject excludes the student from being reckoned in the order of merit / Rank.
- Parents are welcome to consult the subject-teachers to mark the defects and common mistakes committed by their children in their answer sheets, within a week after the results, according to the convenience of the teacher. 9.4. Projects and assignments must be submitted on the assigned date. Late submission may be accepted on a late fine of Rs.200/- per day.
- Promotion depends on the average marks (above 40%) or grades scored in tests, examinations, internal assessments, projects, assignments, co-curricular activities, class work, home work, social service, SUPW, and composition work as well as on the integral development, nobility of character, steady progress and ability to cope with the higher class. 90% attendance is compulsory for promotion.
- Any kind of malpractice in the tests, attempted or intended by any student, is punishable with suspension or dismissal from the school according to the gravity of the offence and at the discretion of the Principal.
- Results declared at the end of the year is final and will not be reconsidered.
Examination & Promotion
- Students and staff are expected to speak only in English in school buses and on the school campus except in language classes. Students are expected to greet all the teachers daily when they meet them first.
- Students arriving in school before the first bell, have to go to their own classrooms and get involved with the day’s lessons in silence. They must not loiter outside their class rooms or in the playground.
- On the days of Morning Assembly, at the second bell both students and staff shall assemble in the ground in the class/house order .On dispersal the students move to their own classrooms in perfect order.
- When the teacher enters the classroom all the students are to stand up, greet him/her and remain standing until they are asked to sit or the teacher takes his/her seat. They should thank the teacher when the class is over.
- Students shall not leave their classrooms during or in-between two periods, but remain in silence and prepare for the next period. When they are taken out to the library, laboratory, computer lab, Language Lab, Smart class or the playgrounds, they have to move in line keeping to the left side of the corridors, silently.
- Students shall not enter any other classrooms at any time. They are supposed to look after their own articles. They shall not bring to school valuable and curious articles, gold ornaments or electronic gadgets. Possession and use of mobile phone is strictly prohibited in the school campus.
- The classrooms, corridors and the school premises shall be kept neat and clean. Waste papers or other waste materials must be thrown into the dust bins provided. Students should take care that the display boards, walls, furniture, black boards, shelves, etc. are kept neat and in order.
- No one shall distribute any notice or printed matter among the students or staff without the permission of the Principal. Similarly no meeting, picnic, or any kind of organised group activity shall be arranged without the previous permission of the Principal. Students shall not indulge in political activities.
- The Computer lab, Science labs and Library must be used with utmost care. If anything is found missing or damaged , students will have to share the expenses in common. Students must not open the CPU or mouse.
